On December 5th, 2024, the annual conference of China's photovoltaic industry was held in Yibin, Sichuan. At the beginning of the meeting, Wang Shijiang, Deputy Director of the Electronic Information Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, delivered a speech. It is well-known in the industry that Wang Shijiang once served as the Secretary General of the China Photovoltaic Industry Association and was transferred to the position of Deputy Director of the Electronic Information Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in February this year. The core content of the speech is as follows: After nearly 20 years of development, the photovoltaic industry has become one of the few strategic emerging industries in China that has formed an international competitive advantage and is expected to become a model for high-quality development. It is also an important force in promoting energy transformation. In March this year, the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China also pointed out that we should follow the trend and make greater efforts to promote the high-quality development of new energy in China, provide safe and reliable energy security for Chinese path to modernization, and make greater contributions to jointly building a clean and beautiful world. This has pointed out the administrative direction for the innovative development of our photovoltaic industry, and also put forward higher requirements for the high-quality development of the industry. Since the beginning of this year, the demand for photovoltaic industry in China has remained strong, and the output of each link in the industry chain has maintained a growth rate of over 20%. But we also need to see that while the industry is developing rapidly, it is also entering a new round of adjustment, with intensified internal competition, numerous international trade barriers, continuous decline in product prices, and pressure on enterprise operations. In July of this year, the Central Political Bureau meeting also proposed to strengthen core technology research and development, enhance industry self-discipline, and prevent vicious competition within the industry; We need to strengthen the survival of the fittest and clear the channels for outdated production capacity to exit. The Electronic Information Department is resolutely implementing the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council. Currently, it is also closely strengthening cooperation with relevant departments, strengthening contacts with industry associations, enterprises, etc. It is carrying out relevant work around promoting industry self-discipline, regulating industry development, promoting industrial technological innovation, promoting industrial integrated development, expanding application markets, and strengthening standard guidance. Here are a few suggestions: Firstly, the industry still needs to enhance confidence. Now that we have entered winter, I believe spring is not too far away. The second is to strengthen industry self-discipline, continue to leverage the excellent tradition of unity and sincere cooperation in the photovoltaic industry, avoid irrational competition, especially vicious competition, unite around the association, and jointly help promote the industry to quickly emerge from the trough. The third is to work hard to improve our internal skills. The more the industry is in a downturn, the more we cannot give up on our own requirements. We must pay more attention to technological innovation, product quality, continuously improve our standard level, and enhance our competitiveness. The Electronic Information Department will continue to do a good job in serving the industry and enterprises. This year is also the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the association. Looking back at the history of the association's establishment, it was actually born during the crisis in 2012. Looking back at the work of the association in the past decade, it has made a lot of effective work in leading everyone in the entrepreneurial cycle and promoting the industry to move towards a new stage. Now the industry will face a new round of adjustment, with a stronger team of association personnel, continuously improving institutional mechanisms, and increasing industry cohesion. I believe that the association will play a greater role in the future, and I also hope that everyone will continue to support the work of the association. Under the leadership of the association, we can better overcome this crisis and promote the photovoltaic industry to a higher level.
